Parks Department
The Parks Department is responsible for maintaining parks and pools within the city. Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, keeping all areas clean and free of trash, playground maintenance, tree care, preparation of flower beds for planting in the spring, weed control, leaf removal in the fall, and sidewalk snow and ice removal in the winter.
Parks
Brandon Park, located on the north end of Market Street, has grassy areas, trees, children's play equipment, a band shell, and tennis courts.
Memorial Park on West Fourth Street is the Home of Bowman Field and the minor 
league Crosscutters baseball team.
Memorial Park has children’s play equipment, picnic tables and 2 basketball courts.
Six public tennis courts and the Elm Park Softball Field are located on the south side of West Fourth Street near Memorial Park. Elm Park is a city facility managed by the Williamsport Soft Ball Association.
Young Woods is located in East End.
Newberry Park is located near Poplar Street in Williamsport’s West End. It has a perimeter walking path, playground designed for children 2 to 5 and 6 to 12 years of age, a green area, where the Lions Fair is held, and a Bocce Court. Want to learn to play BOCCE?
Shaw Place in East End is on Sherman Street. Shaw Place has a walking lane, playground equipment, a softball field and tennis courts.

Susquehanna State Park, a 20 acre river front recreational area in Newberry off Arch Street, is home of the Hiawatha paddle wheeler.
Veterans Memorial Park in the extreme West end of the City, contains memorials of past conflicts.

The Transportation Museum and Park is located adjacent to the Williamsport Historic District and the Thomas T. Taber Museum on Nichols Place.
Swimming Pools
The Parks Department maintains three swimming pools, two of which are Olympic size. East End Pool is located off Sherman Street in the Shaw Place Park, Memorial Pool is in Memorial Park, and the Shower’s Pool is located in Brandon Park. The Shower’s Pool is for children age 10 and under and admission is free.
Street Trees
It is a property owner’s responsibility to maintain trees the on city right-of-way adjacent to their property. Building Maintenance Department
This department maintains public buildings throughout the city. This includes City Hall, fire stations, the Public Services Building, park sheds, Historic Bowman Field, and the Hiawatha buildings at Susquehanna State Park.
Special Events
All departments assist in preparing for special city events throughout the year including:
The Grand Slam Little League Parade in August. Join thousands of spectators lining the streets of Williamsport to welcome 16 teams participating in the annual Little League World Series. All 16 Little League teams ride on floats and are accompanied by their coaches and local volunteer "uncles"
The annual Mardi Gras Celebration January 31 to February 2, 2008, and the July 4th Fireworks downtown.
The Streets and Parks Department welcomes the winter holiday season by installing decorations and lights throughout the City, South Williamsport, and Duboistown, and for the Festival of Lights in Brandon Park.
The department works closely with YMCA Recreation, assisting in many recreation functions throughout the year.
Traffic Control
This department maintains 57 controlled traffic signalized intersections according to Penn Dot permit, which includes servicing traffic signal controllers yearly. The department maintains all traffic signs according to Penn Dot regulations, pavement markings, street name signs, and two sections of beltway lighting.
