HARB – Call for Nominations

General, HARB|

The City Council of the City of Williamsport is seeking letters of interest and resumes from potential Historic Architectural Review Board candidates.

The Williamsport Historic Architectural Review Board serves as an advisory committee to the Williamsport City Council for preservation in the Historic District. The Board’s primary purpose is to review property repair applications for approval in the Historic District.

The Board also works with the Certified Local Governments of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office to review all proposed nominations from the City of Williamsport to the National Register of Historic Places. The National Register is the official list of the Nation’s historic places. The PA SHPO manages this federal program for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The Board’s eleven members are nominated by the Community and Economic Development Department and approved by the Williamsport City Council; and include individuals with expertise in history and pre-history, architecture, historic preservation, landscape history, architectural history, and related disciplines.
